In memory of Sylvia Anne Swaney

Born in Edinburgh in March 1943, the youngest of the Ramsay family of seven children  - she was mother to Ralph, 'Granny Scotland' to Ewan, and much missed sister to surviving brothers Bill and Colin.
Living first in Craighall Crescent, moving to Tolbooth Wynd in Leith in 1967, then to Bangor Road in 1980, where she remained thereafter.
Sylvia enjoyed dancing in her early years, and Scrabble became an all consuming hobby later in life. Sylvia made many great friends through this, and also travelled widely both in the UK and further afield to participate in organised tournaments.
An independent traveller, she ventured alone to New Zealand to see brother Bill, stopping in Singapore to visit nephew Mark. Singles walking or cycling trips were also made to Portugal and Norway. Other excursions were made to France to see brother Colin, with sister-in-law Isobel to Corfu and on a cruise; and to join Nicki, Ralph and Ewan on holiday in Brittany.
Sylvia was proud as punch of her close family - colleagues and friends were often regaled with pictures and talk of son Ralph, daughter in-law Nicki, and grandson Ewan.
After an all too brief battle with cancer, mum passed away on 8th November at St.Columba's Hospice, close to her lifelong location in the Leith and Newhaven areas of Edinburgh. A collection at the funeral saw £500 being donated to support this wonderful charity which gives amazing end of life support to so many people.

Much loved and fondly remembered. Love from Ralph, Nicki and Ewan.
